Giving Together
Multiplying the Power of Giving Since coming to the Santa Fe Community Foundation a month ago I have been learning about the tremendous work being done by donors and nonprofits in our region. I am so delighted to be a part of this vibrant and caring community. A community foundation is the perfect place for donors and nonprofits to share knowledge and ideas, and to come together to create a thriving community for all who live here. One of the things that inspires me most about community philanthropy is the belief that together we achieve so much more than any one person or institution could alone. This isn’t a sentimental notion; rather it is the concrete work of coming together to do something good. My great hope for the future of local philanthropy is that we can come together in dynamic partnership to leverage each other’s knowledge, interests and resources in order to make a real difference in the lives of all in this community. Our new Giving Together program invites advised fundholders to support proposals that we receive through our Community Grants Cycle. The program is a great way for fundholders to learn about the meaningful work happening in our communities. Our hope is to provide a valuable service to the many Santa Fe Community Foundation philanthropists who care deeply about local need. We also believe that we can multiply the power of all our giving by Giving Together. A Giving Together catalogue, organized by issue area, will be mailed to all of our fundholders in June. It will include brief summaries of eligible proposals, staff comments, and a special icon to let you know what organizations we have funded in the past. For those interested in funding a specific proposal, we make it easy by providing a special grant recommendation form. We will also make ourselves completely available by phone and email to answer your questions and assist you in making a grant. This program is a great way for all of us to stretch our resources in this sluggish economy. We know that local nonprofits need a lot, and we have a lot to give, especially if we Give Together. Press on!
