Introduction

For 28 years, in partnership with the people of the area, The Santa Fe Community Foundation has helped local residents meet their charitable goals, made grants to vital community organizations and built an endowment to meet the future needs of our region.

Like more than 667 community foundations around the country, we operate with a simple formula. The people of our region give generously, their dollars are prudently invested and the income is returned to the community in the form of grants to local nonprofit organizations.

We work closely with grantees to ensure that grants are implemented in an accountable and effective manner.

Mission and Philosophy

We improve the quality of life for people in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico, now and for future generations, by:

• Building and managing endowment funds in order to award grants
  
• Helping nonprofits operate more effectively
  
• Convening area residents to discuss issues of critical importance to the community  
  
• Providing leadership for key community initiatives

In awarding grants, the Foundation's goal is to be proactive in community problem-solving by identifying community concerns and helping generate solutions for the purpose of building community.
