Foundation responds to needs identified by the community

For more than a quarter-century, the Santa Fe Community Foundation has been improving the lives of local residents.  The Foundation works with nonprofits, educators, healthcare workers, elected officials, clergy and business leaders to identify the most pressing needs facing our community.

The ripple effects of poverty, including hunger, substance abuse and poor healthcare are an underlying and persistent problem.  The high cost of living, particularly the rise in the price of housing, has had an obvious effect on young people and working families, many of whom have been forced to leave the city. Population growth and a lingering drought have raised awareness of the scarcity of water and the urgency of identifying alternative energy sources.

These problems are addressed through the Foundation’s Community Grants Cycle and through three special initiatives:  Future Santa Fe, Lesbian & Gay Community Funding Partnership and the Native American Advised Endowment Fund.

For more information on these initiatives, contact Valerie Ingram, Development Director or Amy S. Duggan, Program Director.
