(The 2009 on-line grant application will be available from May 18 through June 26, 2009 until 5:00 PM) The Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership was established in 1997 through a generous grant from the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership. The Santa Fe site is now one of 38 partnerships throughout the country and since its inception has made 73 grants totaling $343,765 to 35 non-profit organizations. 2008 Lesbian & Gay Funding Partnership Grant Awards Five organizations in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico received $20,000 in grants.
American Civil Liberties Union NM - $2,500 for the Domestic Partnership Outreach and Advocacy Campaign. Santa Fe Rape Crisis & Trauma Treatment Center - $4,500 for prejudice-reduction workshops for middle and high school students and faculty training through YODA: Youth Organizing Diversity for All.
Southwest Women's Law Center - $5,000 for Protecting LGBT Patients' Rights at St. Vincent Hospital. LESBIAN AND GAY FUNDING GRANT PROGRAM Grants are available for programs serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered [LGBT] population. Lesbian and Gay Funding Grant Priorities: Through these grants SFCF hopes to raise awareness of issues affecting LGBT people in Northern New Mexico. We seek a collaborative, visionary, and reflective of our region's cultural and geographic diversity. We are interested in helping nonprofits that serve LGBT people streamline their internal operations. SFCF is interested in supporting organizations and programs that: • Identify creative approaches to addressing the needs of LGBT populations • Use collaboration and partnerships with other organizations • Provide access to counseling, education, mentoring and other resources • Foster safe schools and social spaces • Work toward prevention of teen suicide • Have a potential and lasting impact • Respect cultural values and use culturally appropriate means Lesbian and Gay Funding - Fields of Interest: • Youth Opportunities for building peer relationships; increase awareness and dissemination of information on LGBT community needs and issues; and assistance with family and legal issues. • Elderly Programs and address immediate needs for senior LGBT population and programs that increase the understanding and sensitivity to senior LGBT issues among service providers. • Community Building Advancement of equal rights; opportunities for safe congregation and/or social events; strengthening avenues for networking and information sharing; providing culturally appropriate services for minority groups; research to support needs of LGBT people; creative forms of arts and expression used to increase public awareness, understanding and appreciation of LGBT concerns and deepen LGBT self-identity; fostering a climate of understanding through community education and other outreach efforts, including with faith-based communities; and training of service providers and community leaders. • Health and Mental Health Services addressing the health needs of youth, adults, and the elderly and programs and services that provide care in a safe and respectful setting.
