Each Holiday season, from Thanksgiving through the New Year, The Santa Fe Community Foundation works in collaboration with The Santa Fe New Mexican, The Salvation Army, and Presbyterian Medical Services to collect and distribute emergency funds to the community. Hundreds of residents and visitors generously donate gifts to the Empty Stocking Fund after reading stories in the local newspaper about individuals and families in need.

Through the generosity of Santa Feans, 100s of families received assistance during the 2008 holiday season from the Empty Stocking Fund. 1,162 area businesses and individuals donated $270,573 in gifts, 27 percent more than in 2007.

Thanks to caring givers, this holiday campaign provides for basic needs such as groceries, household goods and clothing; rental, mortgage and property tax assistance; and help with medical costs and prescriptions.
