CASA First Volunteer Training
hosted by CASA First
The first training session will be Thursday Oct. 5th, 2023, 9am-12:30pm, and will continue for the next 4 Thursdays (ending Nov. 2nd). Training encompasses our Court Appointed Special Advocates program and our new Abrigo Advocates program, which provides any trauma-impacted infant, child or youth from Santa Fe, Rio Arriba or Los Alamos Counties with a caring advocate (even if they are not actively system-involved).
Eldorado Chess Tournament
presented by Santa Fe Rooks
This is a public, 2-day rated chess tournament held at the Vista Grande Library. It's open to all ages and skill levels, with cash prizes and entry fees of $30 per person. Participants play four games at the rate of 90 minutes per person per game, with a break for lunch. It's a great way to make friends and get an official rating for beginners. Also, sections are arranged by skill level, so anyone from novices to experts will face an appropriate challenge.
