Adobe Brickmaking Downtown Returns This May!
About the event
Cornerstones Community Partnerships will reintroduce adobe brickmaking to downtown Santa Fe.
Adobe Downtown will be a free event where the public will learn to make bricks and about New Mexico’s cherished building practices. Taking place at San Miguel Chapel, Adobe Downtown will also provide the public an opportunity to appreciate traditional earthen plaster that preserves the country’s oldest church, work that Cornerstones and hundreds of volunteers from all over the world carried out together from 2010 to 2014. Preservation maintenance continues.
Background: Hundreds of people of all ages attended our Bricks on the Plaza events in years past, and we will have staff and volunteers ready to teach and supervise all who attend the event. All materials will be supplied. Bricks made will increase Cornerstones’ supply used to restore historic community buildings in Chimayo and Abiquiu.
When: On Saturday, May 28th, from 9am to 2pm.
