Racial Healing and Renewal Cohort: Session 4
Details
About the event
This four-session program is based on building the capacity for trusting relationships by analyzing our individual identities within the context of the history of oppression. Healing is a revolutionary act. Honoring lessons from elders in the justice movement, it is imperative that we no longer perpetuate the grinding style of activism that replicates the same exploitative practices on our bodies, minds, and hearts. Healing involves stopping the production of social justice and to holistically understand personal proximity to power allows for real healing.
Additional Information
The world is a different place now, almost three years after the pandemic began. Racialized trauma was on full display in national and local media and in our places of work throughout the pandemic. This trauma revealed how deep the wounds of systemic oppression are for our community and for each of us individually. It is critical to address the roots of systemic oppression moving forward and to re-envision how our communities will heal and thrive together. Many of those fighting to undo systemic oppression work in the nonprofit and philanthropic communities and the demands of the work take a toll on workers’ health and well-being. Healing is a revolutionary act and a critical component to healing is to create new practices that bring about new energy and ideas to approach the fight.
This series will:
- Define racial healing, recovery, and renewal for nonprofit professionals
- Analyze personal identities within the context of the history of oppression
- Explore the grieving process
- Generate personal renewal process that fosters collective healing
- Cultivate a community of people committed to racial healing.
Participants are asked to be present for all four sessions. Each session is two hours long. Registration is now open through March 24. Apply today.
