In a typical nonprofit organization, there are two teams: the Board and the Staff. In a successful nonprofit, these two teams collaborate, communicate and clearly understand their different roles in serving their organization’s mission and purpose. Sounds easy, but there is an invisible line that defines who does what in this successful partnership. And, to complicate the issue even more, the line moves, as nonprofits face changes in growth, management, leadership and more.

This fast-paced workshop uses a football analogy to define and clarify the key roles of Board and Staff in five key nonprofit management areas: governance, planning, finance, human resources and resource development. The workshop is based on the popular manual, The Invisible Yellow Line™ and is led by the author.

You will come away from the workshop with a game plan that will help to guide your nonprofit to operate more effectively, open lines of communication, and answer the basic “Who does what?” questions that can draw energy away from the important mission your nonprofit serves.

Key points to be covered:

  • Definitions
  • Key Roles of Board and Staff in Governance and Oversight
  • Key Roles of Board and Staff in Strategic Planning
  • Key Roles of Board and Staff in Finance
  • Key Roles of Board and Staff in Human Resources
