Learning Lab: Succession Planning - It is Not Just for Board Members Anymore

Succession Plans are used to address the inevitable change that occurs in the life cycle of an organization.  Succession Planning is vital to the health and growth of an organization.  Board members may have term limits, but Executive Directors or CEO’s often leave suddenly.  Now what?This workshop will discuss and identify methods of developing a plan for the smooth transition of Senior Leadership whether on the Board or on staff and the pitfalls that can occur including Founder’s Syndrome.

Executive directors and board members.

Ms. Simons has a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University and has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) for 17 years. She was honored as the 2013 New Mexico YWCA Woman on the Move. She is a Robert Woods Johnson Fellow and served on the New Mexico Association of Fundraising Professionals Board as NPD Co-Chair for 3 years and is now President-Elect. She was the Executive Director of the Central New Mexico Affiliate of Susan G. Koman for six years. She now has her own consulting business working with organizations to establish their non-profit status both federally and within the state. She works with more established nonprofits in grant writing, sponsorship development, and other types of fundraising and public outreach.
