Learning Lab: The Five-Minute Fundraiser
Hollis Walker, Facilitator

Wednesday, August 14, 2019 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Session description:  The Five-Minute Fundraiser is a workshop intended to help participants create and hone a five-minute fundraising presentation that they can adapt for either formal or informal settings. How many times do we leave a dinner party, charitable event, or chance meeting with a business associate, realizing that we missed (or messed up) an opportunity to share our excitement about our organization’s purpose? With the Five-Minute Fundraiser in your back pocket, you won’t make that mistake again. Create and commit to memory a five-minute spiel that tells your listener exactly what you do, how you do it, who you reach, and what your needs are now—with a sense of excitement and urgency that will make them want to join the cause. Practice your presentation in front of a friendly audience of your peers during the workshop, and leave with confidence that you can more effectively represent your organization anytime, anyplace, to anyone.

Audience:  Executive Directors, Board Members, Top Managers

Presenter(s) bio:    Hollis Walker is a veteran professional journalist who has written more than a thousand articles and essays for national and regional media; produced and hosted radio programs; worked as a voiceover personality; and taught in small group and university settings. Hollis attended seminary and became a minister at mid-life, and now works as a counselor, writing coach and public speaker in a variety of settings. She previously has taught workshops for the Santa Fe Community Foundation in writing and marketing.
