Overseeing Volunteers and Interns in a Post-Covid World with Valeria Alarcón

This workshop will highlight the importance and benefits of a well-designed, implemented and managed volunteer and internship program. Recruiting, retaining, supervising, recognizing and evaluating volunteers and interns, post-COVID brings challenges and opportunities. Val will walk you through a needs assessment, whether you are wanting to design a volunteer component or strenthen one, you will receive a template for success.

Founder and CEO of VIA Consulting Valeria Alarcón has over 20 years of combined experience in boththe private and public sector. She is well versed in all aspects of business and organizationalmanagement and system's change. Val’s expertise includes business management, strategic planningand implementation, strategic and tactical marketing, organizational development, program developmentand outcomes measurement, operations and human resource management, leadership development, fiscal management, fundraising and donor stewardship, and high-scale event production. Val received herB.S. in Organizational Psychology from the College of Santa Fe and is certified in Diversity and Inclusionby Cornell University.Val´s volunteer and internship management experience was seeded in Boston, while working withAssociated Early Care and Education, Boston Children Services, The Sterling Foundation, and the UnitedWay of Massachusetts Bay. Since 2010, Val has worked with local organizations like Warehouse 21, Bioneers and Santa Fe Teen Court.
