FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How does Dollars4Schools work?
We invite Santa Fe public and charter school teachers, principals, and staff members to submit a brief funding proposal that describes their program or area of need, how many children and grades will be served, and the total dollar amount needed to complete the project. Community donors can then look on this webpage to view current funding needs and make a donation to Dollar4Schools to support them…it’s that easy!
How does the teacher get the money?
As we receive donations, the Santa Fe Community Foundation disburses the funds through a nonprofit partner that, in turn, writes a check to the teacher. We do this on a regular basis so that donations from the community reach local classrooms quickly.
Is the money I donate tax-deductible?
Yes, Dollars4Schools is administered by the Santa Fe Community Foundation, a 501(C)3 corporation, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
Is my donation used for administration?
No — 100% of your donation will support local classrooms. Costs associated with administering Dollars4Schools are covered by donations made to the Santa Fe Community Foundation's Community Leadership Fund.
