A Community Asset Mapping Workshop: The Wisdom Your Community Holds

Details

About the event

Nonprofit leaders are often asked to address complex challenges with limited time, funding, and capacity. Yet some of the most powerful resources available to our organizations already exist within our communities. This workshop offers participants an opportunity to identify and deepen their understanding of these rich community assets and how they can support meaningful partnerships and collaboration.

Event details

Every day, nonprofit leaders are asked to address complex challenges with limited time, funding, and capacity. Yet some of the most powerful resources available to us cannot be found in a grant budget, strategic plan, or organizational chart. They live in relationships, community wisdom, cultural knowledge, shared experiences, and the connections that bind people together.

Community Asset Mapping is a tool that helps organizations better understand the people, organizations, networks, cultural traditions, and community strengths that contribute to community well-being and collective impact.

This workshop will offer participants an opportunity to identify and deepen their understanding of the rich assets that already exist within their communities and explore how those assets can support meaningful partnerships and collaboration.

It is also important to name that building communal partnerships require trust, care, reciprocity, and an ability to navigate conflict/repair. Together, we will explore how community asset mapping can help illuminate opportunities for connection while honoring relationships that make collective work possible.

We hope that participants will leave with an understanding of community asset mapping as a dynamic, deeply relational, challenging, powerful tool that showcases the beautiful wisdom in their communities.
