
Announcing 2025 Piñon Awards Recipients
Honoring excellence in northern New Mexico's nonprofit sector
The Santa Fe Community Foundation is delighted to announce the honorees of its 2025 Piñon Awards: Amigos Bravos Inc, Free Flow NM, The Friendship Club, and Sunrise Clinics. The awards, presented annually by the Foundation since 1987, are a prestigious recognition of excellence in northern New Mexico’s nonprofit sector.
This year's honorees were selected in four categories from an extraordinary pool of nominations. A record-breaking 130+ people wrote heartfelt letters of support for nonprofit organizations serving Mora, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, and San Miguel counties.
“This year’s honorees embody the heart and resilience of northern New Mexico,” saidChristopher Goett, MSW, President & CEO of the Santa Fe Community Foundation. “They work with passion and purpose to meet community needs, inspire change, and preserve what makes our region so special. It’s our honor to recognize their achievements and invest in their continued success.”
The 39th Annual Piñon Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at La Fonda on the Plaza, in downtown Santa Fe. Tickets will be available for public purchase beginning Tuesday, September 2 through the Foundation's website: www.santafecf.org.
In keeping with past years, the four winning nonprofits will each receive a $5,000 unrestricted grant from the Santa Fe Community Foundation with underwriting support from Enterprise Bank & Trust .

39th Annual Piñon Award Categories & Awardees
Courageous Innovation Award: Free Flow NM
The Courageous Innovation Award honors an organization that is using a bold and courageous approach, based on sound theory, to create new solutions to persistent problems. Since 2020, Free Flow NM has worked to combat period poverty and stigma through innovative programs that provide free menstrual products and promote equity.
Quiet Inspiration Award: The Friendship Club
The Quiet Inspiration Award honors an organization whose hallmark is to work quietly and respectfully among a wide range of people in the community, and has earned the longtime support and trust of its constituents. Since 1979, The Friendship Club has supported individuals in recovery from alcohol and drug addictions. Their multi‑use community center is a welcoming, supportive space for activities and events focusing on mental, spiritual, and physical recovery.
Resiliency Award: Sunrise Clinics
The Resiliency Award honors an organization that builds the resilience of people and communities most vulnerable to emergencies, such as natural disasters, public health crises, and systemic injustices. Since its founding over 30 years ago, Sunrise Clinics has provided comprehensive primary and behavioral health care for rural communities in Las Vegas, Santa Rosa, Tucumcari, and Raton, with a sliding fee scale so no one is denied care due to inability to pay.
Tried & True Award: Amigos Bravos Inc
The Tried & True Award honors an organization that has served the community for over a decade with consistent and high-quality programs, services, and opportunities despite changes in the external environment. Since 1988, Amigos Bravos Inc has protected and restored New Mexico’s watersheds. Their reliable programs blend hands-on watershed restoration, community water-quality monitoring, legal and regulatory advocacy, education, and outreach to empower diverse New Mexican communities toward clean and healthy rivers.
