Another great Empty Stocking Year
Thanks to the generosity of so many of donors throughout northern New Mexico, we were able to grant out $412,000 to 324 families in need through the Empty Stocking Fund. A note of thanks from one of the grant recipients sums up the impact of the program:
“First off, let me thank you for the swift response to my request! Second, I'm in tears that this process was so easy and now I will be able to get my car fixed. The benefit of this program will help not only give me transportation but allow me to work more to save up money! You have restored my faith in Santa Fe. I had no idea this program existed, but now that I know, I will surely spread the word. My next donation to any organization will be to the Grant Circle to pay it forward to the next person in need here in Santa Fe. Community is best when it comes together to help each other. Thank you again for all you do.”- Santa Fe Empty Stocking Fund grantee
As you can see from the chart below, the Empty Stocking funding helped people with car issues, people who lost income of 30% or more, people at risk of being evicted and utility disconnection as well as medical bills not covered by insurance.
The Santa Fe Community Foundation in partnership with the Santa Fe New Mexican is grateful to this beautiful giving community for showing up in this inspiring way for our neighbors. As you can see, the Empty Stocking program continues to be a critical lifeline for northern New Mexicans in need, especially during the cold, winter season.
