Wildfire Relief Grants
The Santa Fe Community Foundation has made three rounds of emergency wildfire relief grants through its Community Resiliency Fund totaling $135,000. The grants, which the foundation has awarded weekly since the beginning of May, support nonprofit organizations in Mora and San Miguel counties that are providing critical services to families affected by the ongoing Calf Canyon/Hermit’s Peak wildfire.
“This historic wildfire presents the biggest community crisis that many northern New Mexico families have faced in generations,” said Christopher Goett, President & CEO of the Santa Fe Community Foundation. “Our priority is listening to and working collaboratively with our nonprofit partners and larger community to help our displaced neighbors as quickly as possible.”

- Sunrise Kiwanis
For the near future, the foundation has waived all administrative fees so that 100% of donations to its Community Resiliency Fund reach New Mexico families who have been affected by the wildfires. The nonprofit grantees have responded quickly to provide clean water, food, emergency shelter, financial assistance, and other critical services.
“During a time of crisis in the beautiful Mora Valley, helping fellow community members required no second thoughts,” said Ruth Ann Roybal-Griego, Vice President of Mora Creative Council — Mainstreet Mora. “We are so thankful to those who have helped make this possible, Santa Fe Community Foundation being one of many who have contributed to our efforts in the Mora area.”
The Santa Fe Community Foundation launched the Community Resiliency Fund in October 2021 in honor of its 40th anniversary. The fund supports programs that build the resilience of those most vulnerable to emergencies; efforts to adapt to and recover from the effects of climate change, such as wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters; organizations responding to urgent public health needs, including pandemics and behavioral health crises; and initiatives for long-term systemic changes that prevent hate crimes and promote anti-racism.
