Women, Wisdom, Camaraderie & Community
“I didn’t realize how much I needed a space like this until I was in it.”
That's how one participant of the Wisdom Weavers - Northern New Mexico Nonprofit Women of Color Leadership Program described her experience, and her words speak to something larger than our Learning Hub training space. Nonprofit sector work is community work and leaders at all levels need authentic support to be effective. Time with peers for candid discussion and space to exhale are invaluable.
Wisdom Weavers, a two-year cohort designed by and for women of color in the nonprofit space, embraces three threads: professional development, healing-centered practice, and the cultural and ancestral wisdom these leaders already carry.
Northern New Mexico nonprofits take on some of our region's most vital work — from clean drinking water to housing, education, and care for our youth, elders, and LGBTQ+ neighbors. The people behind those services need the skills to keep their organizations strong, and they need colleagues who reflect their passion, see their potential, and walk alongside them. Doing this work in solidarity with trusted peers is essential, especially for women of color, whose leadership shapes so much of our region's nonprofit landscape.
Now in its second year, the current Wisdom Weavers cohort brings together 22 women and femmes serving as executive directors, program managers, and fundraisers. Their organizations’ annual budgets range from micro at under $100,000 to over $1 million, with small teams carrying complex responsibilities.Earlier this year, they gathered for a session titled Holistic Well-Being & Healing, a fitting reminder that caring for the people who care for our communities is part of the work, not separate from it.
Applications for the 2027–2028 cohort will open in late 2026. Join our mailing list for updates, and reach out any time for more information about participating in or contributing to this work.
