Nonprofit executive directors often navigate local politics, shifting organizational cultures, and public scrutiny — sometimes simultaneously. This session offers a supportive space for peer conversation and shared learning around leading through change, conflict, and crisis.

This session is part of a transformative two-year program, designed for women of color leaders in northern New Mexico's nonprofit sector.

Many leaders avoid addressing issues until the molehill has grown into a mountain, and most employees say they want more feedback than they get. This session reframes feedback as a gift you get to give rather than something to be avoided, and offers practical language and structure for the conversations leaders tend to dread: addressing a performance concern, redirecting a behavior, and recognizing good work in a way that actually lands. We'll also cover how to receive feedback well, because the leaders who do it best are usually the ones modeling it. You'll leave with words you can use right away, and comfortably.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Piñon Awards. Please join us at this beloved and time-honored event to celebrate this year's awardees and the vitality of our region's nonprofit sector. Tickets will go on sale in early September.

Fundraising is more than asking for money — it is about building trust, communicating vision, and cultivating relationships that sustain community impact over time. This session explores practical, relationship-based approaches to fundraising that nonprofit leaders can apply immediately.

Through a mix of interactive activities and practical discussion, participants will explore and define respect, boundaries, and responsibilities in their work environment. The session will also introduce key concepts related to stress responses, workplace dynamics, and how these show up in day to day interactions. Continuing education units (CEUs) will be provided at no cost.
