Community Matters: The Memory Care Alliance
This month, we have the pleasure of speaking with David Davis, the founder and executive director of The Memory Care Alliance. This New Mexico-based nonprofit provides education and support to families impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia — courageously replacing social stigmas with compassionate understanding, and a vision for life after diagnosis.
MathAmigos
Since 2017, MathAmigos has helped students struggling with math with their love for education and a belief in the power of innovative teams. It was founded after a conference at the Santa Fe Community Foundation by a retired Cal Tech mathematician from the IBM Watson Research Center with a love for Cuisenaire rods, a math and computer science teacher retiring after 21 years at Santa Fe Prep, and a retired physician and medical educator experienced in curriculum.
Dollars4Schools: Recent Support for Local Schools
The Santa Fe Community Foundation is committed to contributing to school betterment and student well-being in northern New Mexico. One integral way we enhance outcomes for young learners is through our Dollars4Schools program, which supports Santa Fe public school teachers and classrooms. In celebration of Black Philanthropy Month, we are honored to speak with Dr. Bettye Kearse, an esteemed author whose book "The Other Madisons - The Lost History of a President's Black Family" has shed light on the untold stories of African-American history. As one of the inaugural committee members of the Santa Fe Community Foundation's Empower! Black Futures Community Fund, Dr. Kearse is at the forefront of efforts to uplift and support Black communities through targeted philanthropic initiatives.
