Santa Fe Baby Fund Awards $45,000 to Nonprofits
2021 Grants Cycle
The Santa Fe Baby Fund at the Santa Fe Community Foundation is pleased to announce $45,000 in grants to four nonprofits in Santa Fe that support infant and toddler wellbeing.
In 2021, the Fund focused its grantmaking on organizations that increase access to high quality, affordable infant and toddler care; support the early childhood workforce; improve access to reproductive health services for adolescents and young adults; support young parents ages 24 and under and their infants and toddlers; and/or support grandparents or other non-parent kin raising infants and toddlers.
2021 Grantees include:
Fathers New Mexico
Gerard’s House
Santa Fe Recovery Center
Presbyterian Medical Services
Not surprisingly, the pandemic has greatly impacted the early childhood education and care sector in northern New Mexico. The shortage of available spots with registered and licensed care providers has only grown over the past year and a half and is especially acute for infants and toddlers. “Santa Fe’s infant and toddler care crisis won’t go away on its own,” said Christopher Goett, President & CEO of the Santa Fe Community Foundation. “As a community, it is essential we work together to serve our youngest and most vulnerable residents. Their wellbeing today supports the health of our community tomorrow.”
The Santa Fe Baby Fund was founded in 2012 with a seed gift from the Brindle Foundation to give Santa Fe’s youngest the best start in life possible. Research has repeatedly shown that early childhood, particularly ages prenatal to three years, is a critical developmental period with a lifelong impact on educational, social, physical, and cognitive development. Since its inception, the Fund has awarded $350,000 to over 20 nonprofits.
