Gerard's House
Donate now
This is the fifth year that three generous donors have challenged Gerard’s House to raise $25,000 in 90 days and have pledged to match all donations up to $25,000.
Gerard’s House is Santa Fe’s center for kids, teenagers and families who are grieving the death of — or separation from — a loved one. We also provide grief support for bereaved adults. The mission of Gerard’s House is particularly relevant in a state like New Mexico which has the second highest percentage of bereaved children nationally according to the Children’s Bereavement Estimation Model, with projections that 1 in 10 New Mexico children will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the age of 18. Gerard’s House’s mission is to create safe spaces where healing happens through acceptance and peer support for grieving children, teenagers, families and adults. All services are free of charge to those receiving services. Each program is tailored to the unique strengths and needs of our grieving community members.

Addressing Behavioral Health Needs in New Mexico
In recent decades, our country's understanding of behavioral health has grown significantly. Yet, we are also coming to recognize that our awareness of behavioral health needs far outstrips the funding and resources that are available to meet those needs. In northern New Mexico, this gap translates to a shortage of providers and lengthy wait lists at community behavioral health agencies.
Wildfire Recovery: One Year Later
At the height of last year’s Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak wildfire last spring, the nation’s attention focused squarely on New Mexico. But by the time the fires were contained in August, the country’s attention had turned elsewhere – and locals were left to continue the hard work of recovery they had begun months before. Today, that work continues with the help of many individuals, organizations, and our Community Resiliency Fund.
